What is your name day?

Today at Eprojectconsult we started with some sweets, which for some of us served as breakfast. Why the sweets? Because today, we celebrate the “L’ onomastico”, or name day, of our Polish intern: Dorota. For her, the name day is even more important than her birthday, but celebrated in the same way. What exactly is a name day? For many of you it probably sounds very familiar but a lot of people have never heard of it before. Therefore a short explanation:
“A name day is a tradition in many countries in Europe and Latin America that consists of celebrating the day of the year associated with one’s given name. The countries that in general follow the tradition of the name- day are: Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Russia, Slovak Republic, Sweden and Ukraine”.
