In 27th of April the main activities for the project with the title Strategies of Promoting Rural Tourism at European Level started here in Sicily in order to develop skills and qualities of the participants. Under the framework of the Lifelong Learning Programme in cooperation with COLEGIUL Economic Dimitrie Cantemir Suceava from Romania, the team of the Associazione Art. Cult. A Rocca and EProjectconsult International department welcomed 6 teachers specialized in the field of tourism. The project main activities took place from 27th of April to 11th of May 2014 in Italy.

The visits were planned to schools in Sicily and other organizations related to the field of tourism in order to gain inspiration, improve teaching/learning methods for tourism training, discuss the similarities and differences between 2 different education systems as discover other European culture.
The programme did not include only work and professional activities. Participants had possibility to see the culture and beauty of this wonderful island of Italy through several visits like to Siracusa, Noto, Catania, Mount Etna, Tindari, Marinello, Taormina and Savoca.
Exchange experience abroad is invaluable for professional skills as to personal qualities, however, as the main professional competences acquired through the project can be distinguished: improved knowledge about classic and modern (interactive) teaching and learning methods, gained experience on the learning technics in the field of tourism in Sicily; gained skills in interactive learning by assistance in Italian classes; experience exchange on the meaning of personal communication and the implementation methodology in the field of tourism; extended and refreshed knowledge through the roundtable discussions on following topics: Strategies to Promote Rural Tourism. Importance of Rural Tourism in Economic Development; obtained knowledge about similarities and differences between two educational systems; become more internationally competent in communication between different nationalities; developed cross-cultural understanding and foreign language skills.
In conclusion it can be stated that it was a worthwhile contribution for the professional development of the participants as to their awareness on other European culture. The team of A Rocca and EProjectConsult is very satisfied with the process of the project and the outcomes.
