Erasmus+ Internship

The team of the Associazione Art. Cult. “A Rocca and Eprojectconsult International department hosted a group from Bad Gleichenberg, Austria, in the frame of Erasmus+ programme. We hosted 13 selected participants along with 2 accompanying persons during the project named “LBS goes EUROPE”. The internships were in the field of restaurant business, including both cooks and waiters. The participants gained experience in their field of studies and become acquainted with the traditional Italian and Sicilian way of labour.

Cultural Programme

In the free time they had chance to visit some beautiful places in Sicily, including Cambria winery, Panarea, Stromboli and Milazzo. The group also participated in a music festival to celebrate the first of May (Primo Maggio). They also got acquainted with the famous Italian cuisine thanks to the local restaurants. We hope that their experience of living abroad was unforgettable and enriching in the cultural way.

General Skills and Competencies Acquired:

  • Observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources in the field related;
  • Establishing and Maintaining Interpersonal Relationships: learning on developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with others;
  • Development of specialized Italian language skills;
  • Critical Thinking: Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems;
  • Understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making;
  • Developing social perspectives and being aware of reactions of other co-workers and supervisors;
  • Giving full attention to what other people are saying and taking the time to understand the points being made.

The participants received information from all the relevant sources in the restaurant business. The waiters got acquainted with different service techniques and sales tools, and learned to use this knowledge in practice by for example advising guests on meal and drink selections. The cooks executed preparatory work and learned to prepare typical Sicilian dishes together with the local cooks. The participants also gained knowledge of environmental and health protecting standards and maintained a safe a hygienic work environment. Overall the participants got to work in an international and energetic environment and surely also improved their foreign language skills.

At the end of the project, participants received “A Rocca” placement certificate” and EUROPASS.

Most importantly the participants gained professional experience in their sector, so that they will be more competitive in the labor market in Austria.

Consequently, the participants seemed to be satisfied with this project, and from their evaluations it is clear that they feel it was an interesting and useful experience. We are satisfied with the seemingly flawless success of the project and hope that we can continue our cooperation.
