The first local workshop of the MovingON Project was held yesterday at the Lab of EProjectConsult and A Rocca Associazione in Sicily, bringing together a group of young people for an afternoon of reflection, interaction and community exploration.
Funded by the Erasmus+ programme, MovingON builds on the experience and outcomes of the previous Erasmus+ project The Voice Action. The project continues the work started through The Voice Action by creating opportunities for young people to strengthen their participation, express their perspectives and engage more actively within their communities.
The session opened with an introduction by Nino Pietrini, who presented the objectives of the project and the wider opportunities offered through the Erasmus+ programme. Participants were introduced to the broader international dimension of the initiative and the role of youth participation in creating more inclusive and engaged communities.
Throughout the afternoon, trainers and youth workers Nico Isgrò and Lucia Isgrò guided the group through a series of non-formal learning activities designed to build trust, encourage dialogue and help participants reflect on emotions, identity and belonging.
Rather than focusing on traditional classroom-style learning, the workshop encouraged participants to learn through experience, discussion and observation. In the second part of the session, the group moved outside the Lab to explore the local neighbourhood from a different perspective. Young participants were invited to observe public spaces, reflect on community dynamics and think critically about how they interact with the environment and people around them.
The activity also encouraged them to consider their own potential as active members of the community and to recognise how even small actions can contribute to positive social change.
The local workshop cycle will continue with two additional meetings scheduled for May 22 and June 4, offering participants further opportunities for personal development, teamwork and creative participation.
The next phase of the project will bring partners together in Rotterdam for a Transnational Partner Meeting focused on evaluating the first local activities and coordinating upcoming project actions.
Following the meeting, young participants from the partner countries will take part in an international mobility experience in The Hague. Accompanied by youth workers and tutors, they will have the opportunity to meet peers from across Europe, exchange experiences and engage in informal learning activities designed to strengthen intercultural dialogue, participation and youth engagement.
