Hello everyone! It’s Elena again. Unfortunately, this will be my last text as a member of the EprojectConsult Team- I am at the airport, waiting for my flight back home. I am extremely sad- I am leaving behind a summer full of joy, friends and amazing moments. I am, however, thankful for the great opportunity I was given because I can definitely say I’ve learned a lot. This experience not only helped me emerge in the real business work, but also thought me that no matter what I do, I must do it right.
Looking back at time, there are many moments that made my stay in Sicily unforgettable. I would like, however, to talk about my last week during which I took part in the “European Humour” project organised by the team. This experience was, for me, incredible because I was “an organiser” and “a participant” at the same time. There to say, I had my little tasks to do- explain the rules, make sure everything goes smoothly, but I was also participating in the activities as everyone else. Thus, I could actually see how difficult the process of organising and running such project is, but I also saw the other side of the coin- the appreciation of the partners. Since I was living with the participants, I could see their first reactions, their responses to our work. I was extremely happy every time I heard “Well done”, “That is such a good idea”, just because I knew how much effort has been put in this project. Seeing that everyone had real fun and enjoys every single moment of the week proved my conviction that ”When something is done with love, it will pay off”. The participants evaluations were really positive, which I think can only stimulate the realisation of other Youth in Action projects.
In my opinion, the project was successful, because of the participants who tuned out to be really easy-going, catty and funny. Seeing that people from countries that are so different from one another- Italy, Turkey, Portugal, France, Poland, Belgium and Germany can cooperate was amazing. At the end of the project, we were all sad but we all knew that we will meet up again and we will have our great memories forever.
Now, I am leaving and my eyes are tearing when writing it. I know how much I am going to miss Sicily- the town, the sea, the sun, the beach… What makes the place special, however, are the people- my bosses, my co-workers, my stanieri and tutti ragazzi italiani! Everytime I miss my Sicilian Adventure, I will look at my pictures (I might cry sometimes) but I will always know that there are people who I can rely on! I love all of you!!!
