Strengthening European democracy through remembrance, dialogue and active citizenship
REMEDY 2.0 – Recalling Memories in Diversity 2.0 is a European project co-funded by the Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values (CERV) Programme of the European Union.
Coordinated by EProjectConsult, the project brings together organisations from ten European countries to encourage citizens to reflect on Europe’s democratic history while actively engaging with today’s social and political challenges.
Building on the success of the first REMEDY project, REMEDY 2.0 promotes remembrance not simply as an act of preserving the past, but as a powerful tool for strengthening democratic resilience, encouraging critical thinking and fostering informed civic participation.
Project Objectives
REMEDY 2.0 aims to:
- strengthen democratic participation across Europe;
- reinforce European values and shared identity;
- promote remembrance as a tool for democratic resilience;
- empower citizens to recognise and counter disinformation;
- foster transnational dialogue between citizens, experts and local communities;
- encourage active citizenship through participatory learning experiences.
How We Work
REMEDY 2.0 adopts a participatory and citizen-centred approach that transforms historical remembrance into active democratic engagement. Rather than relying on traditional conferences or one-way communication, the project encourages citizens to become active contributors through dialogue, collaboration and creative participation.
The project combines:
- remembrance and historical reflection;
- civic education;
- participatory workshops;
- citizen debates;
- expert panels;
- digital storytelling;
- multimedia communication.
Following the REMEDY 2.0 methodology, every activity is designed to connect Europe’s democratic past with today’s challenges, encouraging participants to reflect, discuss, create and take action within their communities.
Throughout the project, partners will organise:
- international conferences and expert panels;
- online European debates;
- local remembrance initiatives;
- participatory workshops;
- storytelling and multimedia activities;
- exhibitions and awareness campaigns promoting democracy, inclusion and media literacy.
Together, these activities contribute to building a shared European narrative on democratic resilience while empowering citizens to actively shape Europe’s democratic future.
