Erasmus+ KA1 Mobility project: future Polish caterers and cooks arrive to Barcellona!

On Monday evening a group of highly motivated Polish students in catering and cooking have arrived to Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto to start their internship in various restaurants across the city. The two teachers and their 16 pupils arrived for the project under the framework of Erasmus+, KA1 Mobility project for VET learners and staff from the vocational school Zespół Szkół nr 3 im. ks. prof. J. Tischnera w Wadowicach.

During the time of the course, our staff at EProjectConsult will make sure that they do not only gain a high amount of invaluable experience in their vocation, but also that they are able to absorb as much of the unique culture and atmosphere of Sicily as possible. In order to achieve this, the students have been given a thorough orientation yesterday morning about the city and the restaurants they will work at, as well as insightful information on the way of life on the biggest island of Europe.

The same evening, they had the opportunity to attend a traditional Sicilian aperitivo, a typical late afternoon feast involving authentic local food and drinks, which had been a great overall success. During the aperitivo the students had an opportunity to attend the opening ceremony of this year’s “Sicilia a Prima Vista” exhibition collecting the best photos taken during last year by the tourists and foreigners visiting Sicily, which offers a unique and vivid perspective on the many wonders of the island.

In the coming weeks the group will experience how it is like to work in a real Italian restaurant and will help them grow their knowledge of their profession through grasping a different perspective of catering and other cuisine-related areas. The chefs and staff of the receiving restaurants will monitor their progress carefully and help them whenever they encounter a problem or have any questions.

In order to make their stay here in Barcellona not only professionally beneficial but also as enjoyable as possible, they will have the chance to participate in numerous miscellaneous activities, including trips to the breathtakingly picturesque Aeolian islands and the Etna, Vulcano, both UNESCO heritage sites; as well as to Taormina, a town not far away from Barcellona, famous for its beautiful beaches and one of the best preserved greek theaters in Sicily.

By the time they head back to Poland, these students and teachers alike will have gained invaluable experience in their professions, all while spending an unforgettable three weeks in Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto. We hope that through a continued fruitful cooperation we will have the chance to welcome many more students from the Zespół Szkół nr 3 im. ks. prof. J. Tischnera w Wadowicach so that we will be able to share with them the many wonders of Sicily.
