Graphic and interior design, hospitality and customer service

Final Erasmus+ project report

From 15th of June until 15th of July 2016, team from Associazione Art. Cult. “A Rocca and the International department of Eprojectconsult in cooperation with SIA RISEBA Vocational Secondary School “Victoria” hosted a group from Riga, Latvia. Following sectors were included in scope of the practise: graphic design, interior design, hospitality services and customer services. Eight participants selected during the project Erasmus+ mobility project “VICTORIA+” had their internships in different firms, at positions suitable for their branch of studies.

Interns were allocated to various companies, which gave them the opportunity to exchange observations on diversity and similarities of working habits and work place ethics. For example, graphic designers George Gaisins worked with Veniamin Geskin at Parco Museo Jalari, Maloto Province of Messina and Nicole Yansone had her internship at EProjectConsult, Barcellona P.G. Beata Dagenvalde and Kirill Barinov had their practical assignments in Soraci Manlio Architecture, Barcellona P.G. as interior designers. Staff at MasterChef Steak House were mentoring Daniel Gailis and Josephina Milova. At last, Inese Sofija Madzule worked as a receptionist in Secur Protect Srl, Barcellona P.G.

Cultural Programme

In the free time they had chance to visit some beautiful places in Sicily, and know Italian cuisine thanks to the local restaurants.

General Skills and Competencies Acquired:

  • Observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources in the field related;
  • Establishing and Maintaining Interpersonal Relationships: learning on developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with others;
  • Development of specialized Italian language skills;
  • Critical Thinking: Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems;
  • Understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making;
  • Developing social perspectives and being aware of reactions of other co-workers and supervisors;
  • Giving full attention to what other people are saying and taking the time to understand the points being made.

Specific Skills – graphic design:

  • Video editing and logo creation
  • Advertising and marketing activities;
  • Addressing problems and troubleshooting;

Specific Skills – interior design:

  • Teaching of information needed to produce a desired room interior
  • How to draw, plan out a space
  • Design software along with other important coursework

Specific Skills – hospitality services:

  • Ability to “read” the customers
  • Flexibility
  • Multitasking

Specific Skills – customer services, receptionist:

  • Interpersonal skills
  • Patience
  • Verbal communication skills

At the end of the internship all participants received “A Rocca” placement certificate” and EUROPASS.

Moreover, during one month staying they had chance to visit some beautiful places in Sicily, including Etna & Taormina, Aeolian Islands, Jalari and Messina. Also they are familiar with Italian cuisine. We hope that their experience of living in Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto was unforgettable and enriching in the cultural way.

Consequently, the participants seemed to be satisfied with this project, and from their evaluations it is clear that they feel it was an interesting and useful experience. We wish them all the best on their future paths and hope that we can continue our cooperation with SIA RISEBA Vocational Secondary School “Victoria”.
