Co-Creating the Future of Digital Citizenship: The First DCE Prompt-a-thon in Sofia
The Digital Citizenship Education – Learn, Connect, Engage, Thrive (DCE) project is bringing together partners across Europe to rethink how Artificial Intelligence can be integrated into adult education in an ethical, inclusive, and impactful way.
A key milestone in this journey has just been reached: the first Prompt-a-thon, held in Sofia, Bulgaria, gathered participants from Bulgaria, Norway, and Italy for three days of intensive learning, collaboration, and innovation.
A Collaborative Space for Learning and Experimentation
The Prompt-a-thon was designed as an interactive and hands-on experience, where participants could explore the role of AI in education beyond theory.
Over the course of three days, participants engaged with:
- The fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence
- Key concepts related to AI ethics and responsible use
- Practical approaches to integrating AI into learning and teaching contexts
By combining technical understanding with critical reflection, the event fostered a deeper awareness of both the opportunities and challenges that AI brings to education and society.
From Ideas to Prototypes: Developing Self-Assessment Tools
One of the core objectives of the event was to encourage participants to move from learning to creation.
Divided into three groups, participants worked collaboratively using creative prompting techniques and AI tools to design innovative Self-Assessment Tools (SATs). These tools aim to support educators and learners in evaluating their:
- Digital competencies
- Ethical awareness
- Readiness to engage with AI in educational contexts
On the final day, each group presented their concept, showcasing diverse approaches, creativity, and a strong focus on usability and impact.
European Cooperation in Action
The Prompt-a-thon highlighted the value of transnational collaboration. Bringing together participants from different countries and professional backgrounds enriched the learning experience and encouraged the exchange of perspectives, practices, and ideas.
This collaborative dimension is at the heart of the Erasmus+ programme, fostering not only innovation but also a shared European approach to digital transformation in education.
