MovingON – From Conflict to Participation

MovingON – From Conflict to Participation

About the Project

MovingON – From Conflict to Participation is a transnational initiative co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme (Key Action 3 – European Youth Together).
The project seeks to empower justice-involved and at-risk youth to actively participate in society and in decision-making processes that directly affect their lives. By adopting participatory and restorative approaches, MovingON promotes dialogue between young people, youth workers, and policy-makers, creating a bridge between vulnerable youth and the democratic life of their communities.

Objectives

MovingON aims to support a systemic change in how Europe engages young people in conflict with the law.
Its main objectives are to:

  • Strengthen youth participation in democratic and civic life.
  • Empower at least 70 justice-involved and at-risk youth to take part in policy discussions.
  • Build youth leadership skills through tailor-made training on EU values and Youth Goals.
  • Organise Circles of Dialogue between youth and decision-makers to improve juvenile justice and prevention policies.
  • Develop policy recommendations addressing youth exclusion, wasted talent, and social marginalisation.
  • Promote EU values of freedom, equality, democracy, and respect for human rights.

Activities

The project is implemented through five interconnected work packages:

  • Project Management and Quality Evaluation – ensuring effective coordination and high standards across all activities.
  • Participatory Evaluation & Policy Recommendations – collecting qualitative evidence and youth-led insights for policy impact.
  • From Conflict to Participation – delivering national training sessions that empower young people to co-design community projects.
  • From Local to EU Level – facilitating youth mobilities and 12 Circles of Dialogue with policymakers at local, national, and European levels.
  • Communication, Dissemination, and Outreach – producing video stories, national events, and a final EU conference in Brussels to share results.

Partners

The project gathers nine partner organisations from six EU countries, combining expertise in youth work, social inclusion, and criminal justice reform:

  • Aproximar CRL (Portugal) – Coordinator
  • CM CASCAIS (Portugal)
  • 180º Foundation (The Netherlands)
  • Agniese Wijk BV (The Netherlands)
  • IASIS (Greece)
  • FDIP (Spain)
  • CPIP (Romania)
  • DGASPC TM (Romania)

Impact

By amplifying the voices of youth who are often overlooked, MovingON:

  • Encourages inclusive policymaking that reflects young people’s real needs.
  • Reduces stigma and promotes social reintegration of justice-involved youth.
  • Increases youth trust in institutions and their sense of European citizenship.
  • Strengthens cooperation among youth organisations across Europe.
Ultimately, the project aims to move from conflict to participation, fostering safer and more cohesive communities.
