International Mobility in Sicily: Vocational Internships and Job Shadowing with EProjectConsult

This summer and early autumn, our team in Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto welcomed participants from Estonia, Slovakia, Poland, and Germany for internships, job shadowing programs, and professional exchanges.

Small Business Entrepreneurs from Estonia: Learning by Doing

This August, two vocational students from Estonia specializing in small business and entrepreneurship arrived in Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto to put their classroom knowledge into practice.

• Sports Management Internship – One trainee, with a strong background in sports, joined Barcellona Sport Village. Under the guidance of Francesco, Fabio, and their team, she learned the daily operations of a local sports center, from customer engagement to facility management.
• Business Development Internship at EProjectConsult – The second student joined EProjectConsult, contributing fresh ideas to company development. She even initiated team interviews to better understand internal roles and foster collaboration.

Both students embraced the Sicilian work culture, exchanged ideas on entrepreneurship, and enjoyed the unique beauty of Sicily during their stay.

Slovakian Students Gain Hands-On Experience in Health and Care Professions

At the start of September, a group of students from Slovakia began internships in fields such as elderly care, nursing, dental assistance, and massage therapy.
Their placements include respected local organizations such as Io Vivo Qui, Liberty Casa di Riposo, Stella Mater Olivarella, Materia Residence, Studio Dentistico Domenica Milone, Studio La Spada, and Massaggio e Movimento.

Beyond their professional experience, the Slovakian participants will enrich their stay with a cultural excursion to Palermo and Cefalù, two of Sicily’s most iconic destinations.

Job Shadowing in Elderly Care: Slovakian Teachers Exchange Best Practices

Alongside the students, a group of Slovakian teachers is taking part in a job shadowing program focused on elderly care.
By observing the dedicated staff at facilities such as Io Vivo Qui, Liberty Casa di Riposo, Stella Mater Olivarella, and Materia Residence, they are gaining valuable insight into Italian caregiving approaches, enriching their professional skills and international perspective.

From Poland to Sicily: Professional Growth through Job Shadowing

We were also delighted to welcome a group of four professionals from Poland for a job shadowing experience. Representing diverse fields including marketing & design, pedagogy, and carpentry, they explored best practices and innovative techniques at local organizations such as EProjectConsult, CodGo, Associazione Vivi Don Bosco, and Sport Aretusa.

Their mobility program will conclude with an unforgettable excursion to Mount Etna and Taormina, blending professional development with Sicily’s breathtaking landscapes.

Exploring Bilingual Education: A German Student’s Internship

Finally, a German student is discovering the rewards of bilingual early childhood education through a two-week internship at Kindergarten Il Piccolo Principe.
Working in a mixed-language classroom with children aged 3 to 5, she assists with creative projects, educational games, and daily activities in both English and Italian, developing essential skills in communication, classroom management, and child-centered teaching.

This internship offers her a unique opportunity to experience the dynamic world of bilingual education in Sicily, preparing her for a future career in early childhood teaching.
